Point Location Description: Sample No. 8670 on Geology map in T-2733.
Location Method: Based on Assessment
Access Description: Access to this occurrence is gained by traveling about 5.5 km south along the Stringers Road from South Porcupine. At this point a gated, old logging road can be followed a distance of 3.5 km southwest to the northwest corner of patented claim HR1116 (P.8632). A traverse through the woods in a northwesterly direction for a distance of about 500 m will lead to the occurrence area.
1920 Big Dyke Consolidated Gold Mines, Ltd. aqcuires McRae, Fishley and Williamsom claims. 1921 Big Dyke Cnosolidated Gold mines Ltd. 4 shafts varying from 15 to 80 ft., 17 pits (5 ft. deep) and 15 trenches. 3 of the shafts are located within 200 m of the occurrence location. Exploration continued until 1923. In 1961, Big Dyke's company charter was cancelled. Between 1961 and 1980 the claims changed ownership several times. In 1980, the mineral rights were transferred from Woordrow Wilson to Mr. Bruno Vatri. In 1980, Thomas Skimming and Associates Ltd. prospected the Big Dyke property verifying the presence of gold mineralization in iron formation and in quartz-carbonate-fuchsite rock in June 1980. In August and September, 1981, McGill Exploration Limited on behalf of Thomas Skimming and Associates Ltd. carried out a program of line cutting, ground magnetometer and electromagnetic surveys, prospecting, and geological mapping. This work was financed by Vatco Exploration Inc. In June, 1983, Vatco completed a B-horizon soil geochem survey and further prospecting on a selected portion of the claims. 1991 Property staked by R. Collins and K. Lapierre with follow-up prospecting, stripping/washing/mapping/sampling and assaying. Although this work located the Big Dyke Vein, no physical work was recorded.

Dec 07, 2005 (G Seim) - The area of the Big Dyke Vein is inderlain by mafic to intermediate metavolcanic flows of the Deloro tectonic assemblage. The flows contain interflow mafic fragmentals (breccias) and oxide facies iron formation The Big Dike Quartz Vein trends northeasterly and has been traced for about 400 m.
