Point Location Description: Vein indicated with shaft symbol on claim 7952 on Erie Canadian Mine location map in T-762
Location Method: Based on Assessment
Access Description: Access is by means of the Buffalo Ankerite mine road that leads south off of the back road between Timmins and South Porcupine. South of the community at the Buffalo Ankerite, The Mackay Lake gravel road lead south. About 4.4 km south is the road leading to the Faymar mine. About 1.5 km along the Faymar mine road, bush trails lead east and north to the area of the occurrence.
1936 Delwood Porcupine Gold Mines Limited reported a 20 ft. deep pit was sunk on a well mineralized quartz breccia that yeilded values up to $30 per ton. Several other veins we located in the area as well as a float that reportedly contained a plentiful scattering of visible gold. Prospecting, trenching, blasting, shaft sinking, diamond drilling and sampling reportedly followed. 18 of 20 drill holes tested a 400 ft. long, 2 to 6 ft. wide iron formation to the southeast of Boyd Lake. Intersections up to $18 per ton across 5 ft. were reported, but follow-up drilling by H.B. Hatch failed to substantiate the intersection, mineralzation or reported silicification. Another report of high-grade gold is mentioned in a 1938 letter by M.E. Scott to M.A. Walton of Sylvanite Gold Mines Ltd. 1981 Vatco Exploration Inc. relocated the old workings, conducted linecutting, VLF-EM, magnetometer and geological surveys, prospecting and sampling. This located a vein near the site shaft/pit symbol on the Erie Canadian Mines map in T-762. Vatco reported a value of 0.09 opt Au from the vein. Other samples in the area returned only backgrond values. In 1983, Vatco completed basal till sampling and B-horizon soil sampling on their claims. 1984 Legion Resource Ltd. held the Vatco claims and completed a VLF-EM survey. 1991 R. Collins staked claims covering the former Vatco property. In 1992 R. Collins obtained funding under the OMIP program and completed linecutting, prospecting geophysical and geological surveys and stripping/washing/mapping and sampling of several areas of interests. Trench 16 was excavated to expose a west-trending, north-dipping quartz-carbonate zone near the location of the Vatco sample. The best reported value in trench 16 was 274 ppb Au.

Dec 07, 2005 (G Seim) - The area of the occurrence is underlain by mafic metavolcanic flows of the Deloro Group. The flows trend east-northeast and are intercalated with thin, discontinuous bands of iron formation and mafic metavolcanic breccias. The Vatco sample was taken from a vein that trends west and dips 50-60 degrees north. The vein reaches widths up to a couple of feet, but is not overly continuous. Trench 16 by Collins in 1992 possibly exposed the Vatco vein for a distance of about 14 m. It is reported as a west-trending north dipping quartz-carbonated zone with a 7 ft. wide quartz vein on the hanging wall contact. Alteration products within the vein include chlorite, sericite, tourmaline and pyrite. South of trench 16, other stripping exposed a narrow, isolated quartz veinlet withing intermediate metavolcanic rock. This veinlet carries chalcopyrite and returned values of 100 ppb Au and 1060 ppm Cu.
