Exploration History

1909-1910 - Claims staked prior to 1911 (MAP 19C) 1944 - Visited by resident geologist S.J. Terhune for Aunor Gold Mines Limited. He noted bands of iron formation with quartz, ankerite, and mariposite and that considerable surface trenching had been done previously without anomalous values (T-0446) 1980-81 - Diepdaume Mines Limited; HLEM survey (T-2498) 1982 - Diepdaume Mines Limited: Geological mapping along EM conductor (T-2498) 1983 - Diepdaume Mines Limited: Channel and chip samples of silicified iron formation and quartz veins with no anomalous values (T-2498) 1983-84 - Diepdaume Mines Limited: VLF-EM, magnetic, and radiometric surveys// geological mapping (T-2811 and T-2498) 1985 - J.P. Sheridan: Sampled muck from previously existing lattice like trenches through clayey overburden with no anomalous values (T-2811 and T-2498) 1986 - Diepdaume Mines Limited: Drilled and blasted two pits on claim 688665// pit 1samples returned anomalous gold values of 0.012opt, 0.018opt, and 0.018 opt (T2498 and T-2811) 1987 - Diepdaume Mines Limited: Two areas of claim 688665 sampled (128 samples) with no anomalous values and mapped (T-2498 and T-2811) 1989 - Diepdaume Mines Limited: Manual trenching (T-2498).

Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (Q Unknown) - The northeast corner of Deloro township, south of the Destor Porcupine Fault, is underlain by mafic to intermediate and felsic to intermediate calc-alkalic flows and pyroclastics of the Deloro Group. Iron formation is commonly found through the flows and a thick band separates the mafic to intermediate and felsic to intermediate flows. Porcupine sediments are found north of the Deloro Group followed by the komatiitic ultramafic volcanics of the Tisdale group. Locally quartz feldspar porphyries intrude the sequence. Diabase dikes of the Matachewan and Abitibi dike swarms are present.

Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (Q Unknown) - Pillowed metavolcanics, sericite carbonate schist, and iron formation are the main lithologies. Gold values occur in tension fractures in the iron formation.

Mineralization Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (Q Unknown) - The gold occurs in quartz filled tension fractures in iron formation. A swarm of white quartz veins were examined using a 5x3x3ft trench in 1986. Six muck samples were taken of which three were anomalous values of 0.012, 0.018, and 0.018. No other anomalous values are recorded.
