Point Location Description: NE Corner of Patented claim 11071
Location Method: Based on Assessment
Access Description: Current (2002) topographic maps indicate that the property is accessible by means of old bush road that lead SE of the McKay Lake road about 4 km S of the Back Road/Gold Mine Road at the Buffalo Ankerite. From the McKay Lake road it is about 6 km alon a SE trending bush road to the area of the Concordia Mine. From there, it is a further 1 km SE to the NE corner of patented claim 11071.
1936 reports by Concordia Gold Mines Ltd./Acordia Gold Mines Ltd. refer to 2 gold-bearing zones on patented claim P.11071. The Burwash vein is reported to be in the NE part of the claim. The Burwash vein is reported to be 7 ft. wide, to contain free gold and to occur in a mineralized schist and carbonate zone with a porphyry dike on the south side. A 12 deep test pit was put down on the vein and sampling reportedly yielded values as high as $71.60 (quote) at the old gold price (unquote). The second zone, called the McIntyre Shear, is said to be located further south and east on the same claim. The shear was apparently traced west onto claim P11065. A vein 2 ft. wide and 400 ft. long was reported encased in the shear zone. Also, a series of quartz stringers were found paralleling the vein on the footwall side. Visible gold was observed. A 14 ft. deep pit was excavated on the footwall side in centre of the vein. and it was found that the stringers found on surface developed into a gold-bearing quartz vein, 2 ft. in width, at the bottom of the pit. The veinlets and the main vein were found to be dipping north very steeply. Assays of the quartz vein at the bottom of the pit reportedly assayed $11.60. There is no other reported work in this area.
