Point Location Description: Delnite Mine # 2 shaft located in the NW corner of patented claim H.R. 1002.
Location Method: Field Visit with GPS
Access Description: Access to the Delnite mine is by means of the Delnite Road that leads south off of the Back (Gold Mine) road connecting South Porcupine and the Timmins city center.
Claims HR1001 and HR 1002 staked and surface work by J.E. McMahon. 1931-32 Shaft sunk to 145 ft. and 619 ft. of lateral work on the 125 ft. level by La Roche Mines Ltd. 1933 Surface and underground sampling under option to Noranda Mines Ltd. 1934 Optioned to Erie Canadian Mines Ltd. in July, Delnite Mines Ltd. incorporated in November. Between July 19, 1934 and April 30, 1935, 3272 ft. surface ddh and 1934 ft. u/g ddh. Additional 1934 ft. of lateral work on the 125 level. To March 31, 1936, additional 4681ft. of lateral work. shaft deepened to 253 ft. 1936-64 Delnite Mines Ltd. No. 1 shaft 391 ft. No. 2 shaft 3030 ft. , No. 3 shaft from 2888 ft. to 5395 ft., 93,046 ft. drifting and 47048 ft. cross cutting. 1964 No. 2 and No. 3 shafts sold to Aunor Gold Mines Ltd. Dec 07, 2005 (G Seim) - The Delnite Mine is located with in Tisdale Assemblage rocks about 950 m north of the Destor-Porcupine Fault Zone. The Tisdale assemblage consists of basal ultramafic rock (komatiites) overlain by pillowed and massive iron tholeiitic basalts. The basalts flows have been characteriized by variolitici content, the variolitic flows making marker horizons for stratigraphic correlation. In the mine area the general strike/dip of the sequence is 80/60 N. Iron carbonate alteration is locally intense and pervasive.

Dec 07, 2005 (G Seim) - Ferguson et. al 1971 describe the geology of the mine as (quote) Two bands of carbonatized Keewatin Basalts are enclosed in serpentinized ultramafic rocks and cut by dikes of quartz porphyry. The basalt bands are from 150 to 600 feet thick and the sequence strikes N80E and dips 60 N. The veins strike nearly parallel to the strike of the host rocks and dip at the same angle or more steeply. Zone of carbonatized basalt contains intersecting sets of quartz-carbonate-tourmaline veins and some longitudinal veins. Ore shoots developed near surface were about 200 ft. in length and 5 ft. in width.

Dec 07, 2005 (G Seim) - April 30, 1935, Delnite Mines Ltd. had developed 5 ore shoots with a combined length of 405 ft. 215 ft. graded 0.187 opt Au and 190 ft. grading 0.338 opt Au over widths of 5.2 and 5.1 ft. respectively. March 13, 1936, 5 ore shoots (ave. width 5.1 ft.) on the 125 ft. level with a combined length of 445 ft. grading 0.250 opt Au, 250 ft. level 3 ore shoots with a combined length of 428 ft. grading 0.192 opt, 375 ft. level 3 ore shoots with a combined length of 566 ft. grading 0.205 opt Au. March 31 ,1937, 1642 of ore in drifts grading 0.226 at an estimated average grade of 0.226 opt Au.
