Location Method: Data Compilation

Access Description: Access to the collar may be gained by means of the Delnite Rd. that leads off of the Gold Mine Rd. (back road) connecting Timmins and South Porcupine. About 2100 m along Delnite Rd. south of the inersection, a old trail leads west towards Pint Street South. At a point about 300 m W along the old trail, it is a 200 m traverse north to the area of the ddh collar.

Exploration History

1936 Skynner Lake Gold Mines Ltd drills 4 ddh totalling 2492 ft. on claim TRS1029 (HR940). 1938-39 Skynner Lake Gold Mines Ltd. drills 4 ddh on claim TRS1025 (HR941). These entountered economic grade mineralization and the claim was subsequently sold to Delnite Gold Mines Ltd. 1940-45 7 ddh drilled on claim TRS1029. 1945-46 Jasper Porcupine Mines Ltd. drills holes 15 thru 21. A total of 21,529 ft. were drilled on the jasper/skynner claims exlcuding the 4 holes on the claim sold to Delnite. 1983 Property controlled by Comstate Resources and optioned by Placer Development Ltd. who drilled 4 ddh totalling 2300 m. The results of analysis were only geochemically anomalous.

Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (G Seim) - Tisdale assemblage rocks underlie the Jasper Porcupine Occurrence area. The Destor Porcupine Fault zone strikes 70 degrees about 1 km to the south. Several of the drill holes that penetrated the Jasper Porcupine claims returned gold values over narrow intervals that met the occurrence-grade criteria. Hole 21 returned the best values. Hole 21 was collared at an angle of -75 deg. on a 212 deg. bearing. The hole collared in fine- to medium-grained, grey, carbonatized, pillowed andesite (basalt) and continued in that rock until 953 ft. From 953 ft to 1064 ft, the hole intersected a silicified green carbonate zone locally showing injected white quartz phases. The contacts to the carbonate zone were gradational with the lower contact zone extending to 1110 ft. At that depth the hole entered sheared, carbonatized, grey andesite containig narrow stringers and blebs of white and bluish quartz and quartz stringers. Reticulating threads of brown tourmaline and dissemintated pyrited occured in association with the quartz and quartz-carbonate. The hole continued in simularly describded andesite to a depth of 2009 ft.
