Geology Comments

Mar 22, 2011 (G Seim) - From Carlson (1967) .......Quartz veinlets, stringers, and stockworks in porphyry dikes along their contacts; commonly the gold values are too erratic and the veinlets too narrow to make these of commercial interest; however, in the northwestern part of claim H.R. 1080, an open cut roughly 50 feet by 50 feet by 60 feet deep was developed on a small, pipe-like stockwork of quartz stringers in a porphyry “nose”, and is reported to have produced 9000 tons of material grading 0.16 ounces of gold per ton; from the bottom of the open cut some 125 feet of drifting and cross cutting were done on the 60-foot level; the area surrounding the open cut is criss-crossed by 10 diamond drill holes totalling 4500 feet in length; one of these cut a 28-foot section directly under the pit and 100feet below its bottom, which is reported to have returned an assay of 0.39 ounces of gold per ton...... From assessment fileT-49, William T. May in 1940. 1) Open cut or Glory hole. This is a showing in the northwest corner of Claim H.R. 1080. The geology shows a waxy porphyry intrusive into the greenstone. In the porphyry, veins of quartz, carrying galena, chalcopyrite, pyrite, tourmaline and gold are found in the form of stringers, stockworks and irregular veinlets. In the immediate vicinity of these veins the porphyry is silicified, well mineralized with sulphides and tourmaline and carries gold values. The latter seem to be distinctly associated with the tourmaline and sulphides. No definite information as to strike, dip, length, width or depth are available except from the glory hole and the diamond drill hole No. 1.

Lithology Comments

Mar 22, 2011 (A Wilson) - The open pit is described as being developed within a waxy porphyry intrusive within mafic metavolcanic rocks. The open pit was sunk in an area with quartz stringers within a quartz porphyry nose. The mafic metavolcanics show a steep northerly dip. Lying within the greenstones and conformable with them are two zones of ankerite. These zones were interpreted as sill-like intrusions of porphyry. Both zones are cut by a closely spaced pattern of quartz stringers and veinlets which are well mineralized with pyrite.

Mineralization Comments

Mar 22, 2011 (A Wilson) - The veins reportedly carry galena, chalcopyrite, pyrite, tourmaline and gold. The veins comprise stringers, stockworks and irregular veinlets. The porphyry is reportedly silicified in the vicinity of the veins. Diamond drill hole No. 1 returned an assay of 0.70 oz/t Au over 22 feet in quartz veins.
