Mar 05, 2014 (A Wilson) - Gold is associated with quartz veins as well as sulphidic ore where the gold is in close association with pyrite. At McIntyre some of the ore mined on the upper levels at the west end of the property was sulphide ore, averaging about 0.5 oz/t in grade with no direct association with quartz. The bulk of the ore came from quartz veins or stringer zones in which gold is native and is one of the latest minerals deposited. The copper ore was found within a zone of sparsely disseminated pyrite and chalcopyrite within the Pearl Lake Porphyry. The copper zone was up to 122 m wide and was traced 1524 m vertically. Ore grade lenses within the zone were traced for 760 m vertically and for 40 m horizontally. The lenses ranged in width up to 38m and in length to 183 m. Between 1941 and 1952, the McIntyre Mine produced 1116 pounds of tungsten that was valued at $1698.00.
