Location Method: AMIS Site Visit

Access Description: Take the McKay Lake Road south of the Buffalo Ankerite Mine about 3 km. Then traverse E through the wood to the shaft location.



Exploration History

1909: O'Gorman - staking 1915: Pike Lake Gold Mines Ltd. sunk a 40 ft. shaft . 1922: McLaren et al. - trenching, DD-1-250 ft. additional claims staked. 1940: reports by Milton Hersey Company Limited and Sylvanite Gold Mines Limited. 1940: Sylvanite Gold Mines Ltd - compilation, mapping.

Lithology Comments

Mar 22, 2011 (A Wilson) - The occurrence is described as a quartz vein in a steeply dipping felsic porphyry intrusive. The vein varies in width from 8 inches to 24 inches. The vein reportedly widens to 5 feet in the shaft. The vein strikes N20W and has been traced for 300 ft on surface. Other narrow quartz veins on the claim are found within serpentinized ultramafic metavolcanics.




Mineralization Comments

Mar 22, 2011 (A Wilson) - Five foot grab samples from the vein reportedly returned values of 0.905 oz. Au ($31.62), 0.54 oz. Au ($18.97), 0.955 oz. Au ($33.32).
