Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (G Seim) - From D.R. Pyke - T-file 2809 In the area of the Delwin shaft, mafic volcanic rocks have been intensely sheared and carbonatized and sericitized over a width of 10 to 100 ft. along an exposed strike length of approximately 500 feet. Quartz veins, general parallel to the foliation, form 5 to 10 percent of the rock and vary in thickness from a fraction of an inch to 4 ft. averaging approximately 3 inches. Pyrite associated with the quartz veining is generally less than 1%. Minor narrow sills of porphyry form part of the altered and veined package of rocks.
