Lithology Comments

Jul 14, 2010 (A Wilson) - The serpentinized peridotite hosting the mineralization is massive and locally altered to chlorite, carbonate and talc. Primary cumulate textures are not obvious in hand specimen. Spinifex textures are absent in the basal ultramafic unit hosting the mineralization, but pyroxenite and olivine spinifex are reported in the pyroxenitic and ultramafic flows. The structural and stratigraphic footwall consists of intermediate to felsic volcanic breccia and tuff and sulphide-bearing iron formation which locally overlies the breccia. At a vertical depth of 150 m the iron formation pinches out and the peridotite and volcanic breccia are in contact. The komatiitic rocks, which host the mineralization are serpentinized and locally altered to talc, chlorite and carbonate. Spinifex textures are common, occurring at distinct stratigraphic horizons, serving as a tentative marker horizon.

Mineralization Comments

Jul 14, 2010 (A Wilson) - Assays from the diamond drilling completed by Paramaque returned values ranging from 0.30% Ni to 2.77% Ni. An assay of 2.77% Ni and 0.13% Cu over 3.6m was returned from a Paramaque drill hole 64-4. Reported assays from the Noralex drilling returned assays as high as 2.10% Ni over 4.57 m. The best assays for diamond drilling completed by Starfire returned: 0.044% Cu, 0.59% Ni, 0.1 g/t Pt, 0.11 g/t Pd over 1.28 m in drill hole SH02-02l 0.06% Cu, 0.67% Ni, 0.18 g/t Pt and 0.28 g/t Pd over0.71 m from SH-02-05. The contained sulphide minerals in decreasing abundance are: pyrrhotite, pentlandite, minor pyrite and chalcopyrite, occurring predominantly as massive to semi-massive sulphides at the base of the komatiitic flow. The total sulphide abundance decreases with increasing distance from the basal contact. The main zone that comprises the majority of the mineral resource consists of komatiite-hosted massive to semi-massive sulphides lying conformably on dacitic pyroclastic flows. The sulphide assemblage consists of pyrrhotite, pentlandite, and minor pyrite and chalcopyrite. Typical sulphide concentrations range in the sixty to eighty percent pyrrhotite and ten to thirty percent pentlandite. The pentlandite occurs intergrown with pyrrhotite as irregular grains that are generally relatively coarse grained. The massive zone is overlain by disseminated sulphides of varying sulphide modal abundance, ranging from under one percent to twenty-five%. The sulphide minerals are similar to those of the massive zone, with the exception of minor amounts of millerite also identified in thin section. Silicate minerals have been completely serpentized and/or carbonatized.

Notes: The mineralized zone occurs along the footwall peridotite contact overlying the pyroclastic rocks and sulphide iron formation. The zone plunges 50 degrees SE, parallel to the plunge of broad open cross folds on the northern limb of the syncline. Irregularly shaped and discontinuous pods of mainly massive iron sulphides occur along the contact between the volcanic breccia, iron formation and peridotite contact. These massive pods are overlain by blebby or disseminated sulphides representing original net-textured sulphides.
