Access Description: Point Located: A point 1.61 km south and 3.82 km east of the northwest corner of McCann Township.
1970- 1973: Surface work and packsack diamond drilling was completed by B. Taylor (of Howell, Michigan). 1982: N.D. Stevens (of Redford, Michigan) reported assays of 0.14 ounce of gold per ton, 0.03 ounce of silver per ton, and 0.01% of copper from a sample of unspecified type from somewhere within the south half of the south half of lot 8, concession VI, McCann Township.

Dec 07, 2005 (C Salo) - Geological mapping (Moore 1936; Pyke 1976; Jensen 1989, 1985; Jensen and Langford 1985; Jensen and Baker 1986; Johnstone and Steele 1989; Baker et al. 1980; McClenaghan et al. 1988, 1987; Steele 1988) indicates the area to be underlain mainly by felsic intrusive rock of the Wildgoose Lake Syenite. This syenitic body intrudes weakly metamorphosed (greenschist or lower facies except marginal to intrusive felsic bodies (such as the Wildgoose Lake Syenite), where contact metamorphic aureoles of amphibolite grade are often developed) volcanic and (rarely) interflow tuffaceous and sedimentary rock of the (Archean) Kinojevis Group. Pyke (1976) indicated that narrow (tens of metres in width) north striking diabase dikes of the (Proterozoic) Matachewan swarm (Heaman 1989) intrude both the syenitic intrusive body and the Kinojevis Group volcanic rocks.

Dec 07, 2005 (C Salo) - B. Taylor is reported (assessment files, Resident Geologist's Office, Kirkland Lake) to have blasted a shallow shaft (or deep pit) and to have completed packsack diamond drilling. Most rock descriptions provided by Mr. Taylor suggest that his work was performed in pink granitic rock of the Wildgoose Lake Syenite. Mr. Taylor reported that a sample submitted by him for assay averaged (in 1970) $49.00 per ton (greater than 1.0 ounce of gold per ton). N.D. Stevens also reported (assessment files) the presence of anomalous gold concentrations (0.14 ounce of gold per ton) in the area.
