Geology

Province: Superior

Subprovince: Abitibi

Terrane: Wawa-Abitibi

Belt: Abitibi

Tectonic Assemblage: Tisdale

Geological Age: Archean

Geology Comments

Dec 08, 2015 (D Guidon) - The area is underlain by rocks that are part of the Western Abitibi Subprovince, part of the Archean aged Superior Province. The zinc occurrence is with an east- to northeast-trending package of volcanic rocks. Jackson and Fyon defined the package as the Bowman assemblage but Ayer et al. redefined it as the Tisdale assemblage. The assemblage is composed of lsic-intermediate to mafic metavolcanic rocks, which are bounded to the north by the Porcupine Assemblage.

Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (D Guidon) - Strongly sheared and variably altered and sulphidized, feldspar porphyry. Contains abundant pyrite ranging from 3-10% as disseminations, bands, blebs and semi-massive zones.

Mineralization Comments

Dec 08, 2015 (A Wilson) - A 1 m section of core from DDH CUR32-2 returned 0.31% Zn, 3.5 g/t Au, 14.3 g/t Ag over 2.25 m (including 5.3 g/t Au and 13.4 g/t Ag over 1 m). A second intersection from the same drill hole returned 0.48% Zn and 22.9 g Ag over 2.1 m. DDH CUR33-4 intersected 0.85% Zn, 0.62 g/t Au and 28.2 g/t Ag over 2 m. Hole Cur33-03 intersected 7980 ppm Zn between 254.25 and 255.73 m down hole. Echo Bay Mines drilled three holes testing the Grindstone Creek Showing, where drilling in 1999 intersected 2.08 gpt Au,19 gpt Ag, and 0.5% Zn over 18.9 meters in hole CB-04. Significant gold mineralization was intersected in hole CB-07, which returned 3.95 gpt Au, 132 gpt Ag and 3% Zn over 2.1m (HW zone) and 2.6 gpt Au, 8.2 gpt Ag and 0.19% Zn over 5.05m (FW zone). Anomalous silver and zinc values were intersected in holes CB-06 and CB-08, which returned up to 0.39 gpt Au, 14.4 gpt Ag and 0.2% Zn over 7.0 meters and 0.13 gpt Au, 23.4 gpt Ag and 0.1% Zn over 9.25 meters respectively.
