Geology

Province: Superior

Subprovince: Abitibi

Terrane: Wawa-Abitibi

Belt: Abitibi

Tectonic Assemblage: Tisdale

Geological Age: Archean

Geology Comments

Dec 09, 2015 (D Guidon) - The area is underlain by rocks that are part of the Western Abitibi subprovince, part of the Archean aged Superior Province. The copper occurrence is with an east- to northeast-trending package of volcanic rocks. Jackson and Fyon defined the package as the Bowman assemblage but Ayer et al. redefined it as the Tisdale assemble. The assemblage is composed to felsic-intermediate to mafic metavolcanic rocks, which are bounded to the north by the Pocupine assemblage.

Lithology

Lithology Data
Rock Type Rank Composition Texture Relationship
Mafic lava flow-unsubdivided 1 Silicified And Weakly Chloritized Sheared Host

Lithology Comments

Dec 09, 2015 (D Guidon) - Medium, grey-green, fine-grained sheared mafic volcanic rocks. Moderate pervasive silicification, weak pervasive chloritization, fracture controlled chalcopyrite-pyrite mineralization also was described.

Mineralization Comments

Dec 09, 2015 (A Wilson) - Diamond drill hole CUR35-02 intersected 4920 ppm Cu between 184 and 185 m. Other elements sampled from the same interval returned 114 ppm Zn, 72 ppb Au, and 98 ppm Ni.
