Dec 07, 2005 (C Salo) - Geological mapping (Berry 1942; Leahy 1969; Pyke 1976; Jensen and Baker 1986; Johnstone and Steele 1989; McClenaghan et al. 1988, 1987; Steele 1988) indicates that bedrock in the area consists mainly of weakly metamorphosed (greenschist or lower metamorphic facies) volcanic rocks of the (Archean) Kinojevis Group.

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The showing consists of quartz veins hosted by pyrite-bearing chlorite schist and carbonatized mafic metavolcanic rocks. In the area, tourmaline-bearing quartz stringers, specularite stringers and quartz-feldspar porphyry dikes hosted by carbonatized and sheared metavolcanics have been reported.

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - Assays up to $8.20 Au per ton were obtained from grab samples taken in 1923. Samples collected from the same site in 1912 returned assays up to $10.40 Au per ton. Grab samples collected by the OGS in 1971 returned values of 0.16 oz/t Au and 0.14 oz/t Au. Grab samples collected from dump material in 1936 returned assays of $1.75 Au, $70.00 Au, $51.10 and $0.35 Au.
Dec 07, 2005 (C Salo) - In the north half of lot 12, concession II, Sheraton Township, stripping and trenching are reported (assessment files, Resident Geologist's Office, Timmins) to have exposed a quartz-carbonate vein along 700 feet. The vein strikes 110 and averages 1 foot in width. This trend is subparallel to that of a regional scale cross fault (The Cross Lake Fault) which is interpreted (Pyke 1976) to subcrop near the southwest corner of Sheraton Township. The vein is reported (assessment files) to contain coarse grained pyrite, carbonate, chlorite, and chalcopyrite and is hosted by sheared and silicified 'greenstone' (Berry 1942). In the area, tourmaline bearing quartz stringers, specularite stringers, and quartz-feldspar porphyry dikes hosted by variably carbonatized and sheared volcanic rocks have also been described (Berry 1942). Assays as high as 0.5 ounce of gold per ton have been reported from the area. Grab samples of pyritic chlorite schist and carbonatized volcanic rocks yielded assays as high as 0.16 ounce of gold per ton (Leahy 1969).
