Exploration History

1961: Bonwitha Mining Co. Ltd. completed a magnetic survey, prospected, and packsack drilled. 3 anomalously auriferous zones were identified, with good values in 1 zone. 1983: St. Joe Canada Inc. completed overburden drilling and diamond drilled 2 holes. 1998-1999: Boulder Mining Corporation completed 60.9 km of linecutting, 60.9 line km of ground magnetometer, 55.6 line km of VLF-EM, geological mapping prospecting, soil sampling and diamond drilled 9 holes totalling 618 m. Grab samples assayed up to 1.44 g/t Au. An intersection in hole B-2-99 was 1.32 g/t Au over 2.0 m,. An intersection in hole B-3-99 was 6.6 g/t Au over 1.1 m. An intersection in hole B-5-99 was 4.02 g/t Au over 6.5 m. 2003: St Andrew Goldfields Ltd. completed prospecting and sampling over a large area. Sample 49007 assayed 6460 ppb Au. The sample was collected near the main Bowitha Mines showing.

Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (D Guidon) - Pyrite is associated with carbonate stringers which are hosted mainly by largely glacial drift covered weakly metamorphosed (greenschist or lower metamorphic facies) subaqueously deposited basalt of the (Archean) Kinojevis Group (Jensen 1985, 1989; Jensen and Langford 1985; Jensen and Baker 1986; Johnstone and Steele 1989; Baker et al. 1980; McClenaghan et al. 1988, 1987; Steele 1988). The best reported assay (0.74 ounce of gold per ton from a 6 foot diamond drill core length) was reported (assessment files, Resident Geologist's Office, Kirkland Lake) from southeast striking zone 1.
