Exploration History

1947- 1948: Wright-Hargreaves Mines Ltd. diamond drilled 10 stratigraphic holes totalling 8,712 feet in southwest Michaud Township in an area of sparse bedrock exposure. Three of these holes yielded anomalously elevated gold tenors ranging from 0.03 to 0.10 ounce of gold per ton from core lengths ranging from 1 to 4 feet. 2002: Acrex Ventures Ltd. and Moneta Porcupine Mines Inc. completed diamond drill hole MA-02-06 to the east. Best intersection 11.42 g/t gold over 0.7 m 2003-2004: Acrex Ventures completed 2 holes totaling 793 m on the 55 zone. DDH MA-03-10 intersected 4.37 g/t Au over 4.28 m. DDH MA-03-11 intersected 2.31 g/t Au over 4.4 m. 2010-2011: Part of a 30 000 m diamond drilling program by Moneta Porcupine Mines Ltd. An NI 43-101 resources estimate was release December 1, 2011. 2012: further dilling and updated resource estimate.

Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (C Salo) - Geological mapping (Sutcliffe and Steele 1989; Jensen 1989, 1985; Troop 1989; Jensen and Langford 1985; Satterly 1949; McClenaghan et al. 1989, 1988, 1987; Steele 1988; Baker, Seaman and Steele 1980) indicates that the occurrence area is largely glacial drift covered. Bedrock in the area consists mainly of weakly metamorphosed (greenschist or lower metamorphic facies, except marginal to large felsic bodies, where amphibolite grade metamorphic aureoles may be developed) volcanic and clastic sedimentary rocks which strike east and dip steeply. The occurrence area basement supracrustal assemblage is variably sheared, faulted, and metasomatized and it is intruded by felsic to mafic dike rocks, biotite lamprophyre dikes, and diabase dikes of the (Proterozoic according to Heaman 1989) Matachewan swarm. Jensen (1989, 1985) interpreted the drill holes which yielded the anomalous gold tenors which constitute this occurrence to be collared within the Porcupine-Destor Fault Zone. A recent geophysical survey of Michaud Township (OGS 1984) failed to detect any anomalous bedrock conductors which coincide with the occurrence location.

Mineralization Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (C Salo) - Wright-Hargreaves Mines diamond drill hole no. 9 is reported (assessment files, Resident Geologist's Office, Kirkland Lake) to have yielded ... no assays higher than 0.02 oz/ton..., implying that gold tenors assaying greater than 0.01 ounce of gold per ton were intersected. Wright-Hargreaves Mines diamond drill hole no. 10 is reported (assessment files) to have yielded a 1 foot long core section of greywacke which averaged 0.03 ounce of gold per ton.
