Exploration History

1979- 1987: Nahanni Mines and/or Redstone Resources Inc. completed magnetic, VLF, and HL electromagnetic surveys and by 1983 had diamond drilled 5 holes totalling 3,477 feet in southeast Michaud Township. Additional geophysical surveys, overburden drilling, and 2 holes totalling 901 feet were diamond drilled in 1983. IP geophysical surveys were completed prior to the diamond drilling of 6 holes totalling 2,785 feet during 1986. Additional IP geophysical surveys were completed, the property was optioned to Moneta Porcupine Mines Inc., and Moneta Porcupine Mines completed reverse circulation and diamond drilling 1989: Joint venture partners Moneta Porcupine Mines, Nahanni Mines and Unocal Canada Inc. diamond drilled 20,000 feet. Multiple auriferous shear zones within syenite porphyry are reported (The Northern Miner, March 6, April 17, May 8, August 28, and October 2, 1989) to have been encountered by this drilling. Assay results reported include core sections of 17.7, 21.6, 27.4, and 22.0 feet which assayed 0.15, 0.25, 0.12, and 0.18 ounce of gold per ton, respectively.

Mineralization Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (C Salo) - Diamond drill hole no. M-82-1 yielded a 15.1 foot long core length which averaged 0.024 ounce of gold per ton within chert interbedded with graphitic argillite. Hole no. M-82-4 intersected syenitic material averaging 100-1,200 ppb of gold, including a 14.4 foot core section which averaged 0.02 ounce of gold per ton. Hole no. M-84-7 yielded a 17.5 foot long core section of pyritic and variably altered (of unspecified type) volcanic rock which averaged 0.04 ounce of gold per ton which is associated with graphitic interflow material. Hole no. M- 86-10 yielded a 5.0 foot long core section of variably sericitized and carbonatized basalt which averaged 0.037 ounce of gold per ton. Hole no. M-86-12 yielded a 22 foot long core section of pyritic sericitized and carbonatized basalt which averaged 0.029 ounce of gold per ton. Additional alteration minerals noted in the Nahanni Mines drill logs to be associated with anomalously elevated gold tenors appear below (assessment files, Resident Geologist's Office, Kirkland Lake). Diamond drilling is reported (The Northern Miner, October 2, 1989) to have intersected within sheared syenite porphyry within the PDFZ additional significant anomalously elevated gold tenors. The auriferous material intersected by Nahanni Mines appears to be similar in character to and to represent strike extensions of anomalously auriferous material intersected by Wright- Hargreaves Mines Ltd./Windjammer Power and Gas Co./Noranda Exploration Co. Ltd./Destiny Resources Ltd.at the Caswell occurrence and by Moneta Porcupine Mines at the Miller occurrence.
