Point Location Description: Diamond drill hole #8.

Location Method: Conversion from MDI

Access Description: Point Located: A point 5.09 km north and 2.57 km east of the southwest corner of Guibord Township. Bedrock exposures of carbonate, felsic granitic rock, and clastic sedimentary rock occur southwest of Guibord Hill in the southern part of lots 9 and 10, concession IV, Guibord Township on patented land now held by Garrison Creek Consolidated Mines and Falconbridge. Access to these bedrock exposures is provided via an ATV passable trail from Highway 101 (as indicated by Prest 1953).

Exploration History

1934: V. Jordan is reported to have sampled quartz veins and masses hosted by carbonate. Pits and trenches were apparently excavated and blasted as part of this sampling program. 1944: Frobisher Exploration Co. diamond drilled 4 holes totalling 2,361 feet on what was known as the Cameron property. 1945-1947: Frobisher Exploration completed diamond drilling, Aunor Gold Mines Ltd. and, later, Caman Gold Mines Ltd. (in which Hoyle Mining Co. Ltd. held a controlling interest) acquired the property. By January, 1947, 27 holes totalling 15,044 feet had been diamond drilled 1954: Garrison Creek Consolidated Mines Ltd. was incorporated to acquire the assets of 6 companies (including Caman Gold Mines Ltd.) holding property in the Garrison/Michaud Township area. 1965: By this time, Falconbridge Nickel Mines Ltd. had acquired a controlling interest in Garrison Creek Consolidated Mines through acquisition of Garrison Creek Consolidated Mines shares formerly held by Hoyle Mining Co. Ltd., Coniaurum Miner Ltd., and Frobisher Ltd. Falconbridge Nickel Mines completed a regional scale airborne geophysical survey and, on the basis of the results of this survey, optioned the Caman Gold Mines claims from Garrison Creek Consolidated Mines. 1966: Falconbridge Nickel Mines completed VLF electromagnetic, magnetic, lithogeochemical, and geological surveys and diamond drilled 4 holes totalling 1,899 feet 1979-1985: Falconbridge Ltd. completed VLF electromagnetic and IP electric surveys and diamond drilled 5 holes totalling 3,921 ft.

Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (C Salo) - Geological mapping (Prest 1953; Jensen 1985, 1989; Jensen and Langford 1985; Jensen and Baker 1986; Johnstone and Trowell 1985; Johnstone and Steele 1989; Troop 1989; Baker et al. 1980; McClenaghan et al. 1988, 1987; Steele 1988) indicates that bedrock in the occurrence area is largely glacial drift covered and that it is within (Prest 1953) or north of (Jensen 1985, Jensen and Baker 1986) the (locally) northeast striking Porcupine-Destor Fault Zone. North of the Porcupine-Destor Fault Zone, weakly metamorphosed (greenschist or lower metamorphic grade) komatiitic to tholeiitic subaqueously deposited volcanic and interflow sedimentary rocks of the (archean) Stoughton-Roquemaure Group are southeast striking, steeply dipping, and north facing. Intrusive rocks include a diorite/gabbro complex (exposed a few hundred metres northeast of the trenched area on Guibord Hill (Johnstone and Trowell 1985, Prest 1953)), an irregular sill-like body of felsic granitoid composition (Jensen 1985, Prest 1953), narrow (tens of metres in width) north striking diabase dikes of the (Proterozoic) Matachewan swarm (Heaman 1989), and narrow (metres in width) biotite lamprophyre dikes. A recent geophysical survey of Guibord Township (OGS 1984) failed to detect any significant bedrock conductors in the occurrence area although this survey delineated a well defined and laterally continuous multichannel conductor west of Guibord Hill. Falconbridge Ltd. is reported (assessment files, Resident Geologist's Office, Kirkland Lake) to have acquired ground in the area (including claims on which the occurrence is located).

Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (C Salo) - The white vein system is very striking in the rusty-brown-weathering carbonate rock. On a fresh surface the carbonate is white. There is considerable green mica and green carbonate rock, probably due to very finely disseminated green mica.

Mineralization Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (C Salo) - The main veins strike N. 15-25 W., with cross fracture or gash veins at N. 10 E., and N. 35 W. The main veins dip 55 NE., but other veins of the same strike were observed dipping 65-70 SW. The gash veins dip 80 S. and 80 W., respectively. Cross-veins, which might be younger than the main system, were observed striking N. 25-30 E., and N. 45 W. with vertical dips.
