Dec 07, 2005 (C Salo) - Geological mapping (Prest 1953; Jensen 1985, 1989; Johnstone and Trowell 1985; Jensen and Baker 1986; Johnstone and Steele 1989; Troop 1989; Baker et al. 1980; McClenaghan et al. 1988, 1987; Steele 1988) indicates that the area is underlain mainly by sparsely exposed weakly metamorphosed (greenschist or lower metamorphic facies) volcanic rocks of the (Archean) Stoughton- Roquemaure Group which strike east to southeast, dip steeply, and face north. Intrusive rocks in the area include large irregularly shaped felsic stocks and north striking diabase dikes of the (Proterozoic) Matachewan swarm (Heaman 1989). The Porcupine-Destor Fault Zone is several hundred metres south of the occurrence and the Munro Fault Zone (also referred to as the Middle Branch of the Porcupine-Destor Fault Zone (Jensen and Langford 1985, Johnstone 1987)) is several hundred metres north of the occurrence.
