Province: Superior
Subprovince: Abitibi
Terrane: Wawa-Abitibi
Belt: Abitibi
Tectonic Assemblage: Kidd-Munro
Geological Age: Archean
Nov 25, 2011 (D Guidon) - From Cargill (2008) The property is in the southern part of the Abitibi. This area consists of three major volcanic assemblages, and two overlying meta-sedimentary assemblages. From oldest to youngest, these assemblages are the Stoughton-Roquemaure (2723-2720 Ma), the Kidd-Munro (2719-2711 Ma), and the Blake River (2676-2670 Ma). The three older volcanic assemblages are composed of island arc, and rifted island-arc environments. These volcanic assemblages have conformable contacts developed by volcanic construction in tectonic environments ranging from extension to compression. On the scale of the belt, these volcanic and sedimentary assemblages form a broad synclinorium cored by the Blake River assemblage. The property is underlain by a sequence of Archean, interbedded sediments and volcanic rocks. These rocks form a series of south-westerly striking, south dipping, tops-up units. Local flexures are believed to exist and northerly dipping sections are interpreted. There is no outcrop on the property and the geological interpretation is derived from diamond drilling and geophysics.

Nov 25, 2011 (D Guidon) - From Cargill (2008) The South Zone has been traced by drilling for about 425 m along strike, east-west, and is 20 to 50 m thick. Most gold mineralization is in the sedimentary rocks overlying a BIF. Mineralization locally extends into the BIF. The host rocks include a BIF overlain by a conglomerate, in turn overlain by a thick sequence of sediments comprising interbedded sandstones and greywackes. The oxide facies type of BIF strikes about 070 degrees and dips about 80 degrees south. The BIF consists of thin (0.5 to 3.0 cm) layers of chert/jasper, iron silicates and magnetite/hematite. The predominant alteration types are silicification, sericitization, hematititization and pyritization. The greywackes are also carbonatized and chloritized along fracture planes. The most intense alteration is associated with quartz-carbonate veins, which have alteration envelopes up to four times the width of the veins. Disseminations of fine to medium pyrite range from traces to ±10 %. The larger amounts of pyrite occur in strongly silicified wallrocks and quartz veins. Pyrite also occurs as fine disseminations in narrow (1 to 4 mm) bands paralleling bedding. The greatest concentration of pyrite is along the conglomerate/iron formation contact and locally within the BIF. This pyritization is related to low angle, cross-cutting, silicified zones and quartz veins. Fine grained, visible gold was noted in narrow quartz veins in several holes. Mineralization is not restricted to any rock unit. The BIF only contains gold where it has been broken by small fractures. Babin (1988) believed the gold was related to structures trending northeast and dipping to the northwest. Longitudinal grade-tonnage diagrams of the zone prepared by Kusins (2002) suggested shallow plunging shoots of better mineralization which might reflect Holloway type structures caused by folding.
