Access Description: A point 4.30 km north and 3.06 km west of the southeast corner of Hislop Township. The Creek Zone deposit is in the southeast quarter of the north half of lot 4, concession III, Hislop Township, about 2.9 km northwest of the village of Holtyre. Access to within several hundred metres of the (overburden covered) deposit area is provided by north trending all weather Hislop Road 2, which lies along the common boundary of lots 3 and 4.
The area's exploration history is summarized in the report for the Gunnex deposit (no. 168). MDI42A08NW00104.

Belt: Abitibi
Geological Age: Archean
Metamorphism Grade: Greenschist
Apr 15, 2016 (C Salo) - Geological mapping indicates bedrock in the deposit area is almost entirely glacial drift covered. Bedrock geology and structure in the area are complex and not well understood. Bedrock is interp. to consist mainly of weakly metamorphosed (greenschist or lower metamorphic facies except marginal to large felsic intrusive bodies, where amphibolite grade contact metamorphic aureoles may be developed) subaqueously deposited ultramafic to felsic volc., pyroclastic, and chemical and clastic interflow sedimentary rocks. In places these supracrustal rocks have been intruded by albite syenitic bodies of unspecified size and geometry, aplite dikes, and narrow (generally no more than tens of metres in width) diabase dikes of the (Proterozoic according to Heaman) Matachewan swarm which usually strike north. Bedrock stratigraphy is reported to strike SE, to dip steeply SW, and to face SW, but Prest has postulated the presence in the area of isoclinal folding, suggesting that semiregional scale description of the deposit area's basement structure should be regarded with caution. Bedrock hosting the Creek Zone deposit is interpreted by Johnstone and Trowell to be about 2.4 km SW of a relatively narrow Porcupine-Destor Fault Zone (PDFZ) while Jensen interprets. the PDFZ to be much wider and closer to the deposit loc. than this. Bedrock hosting the deposit appears to be either a) within a distinc. felsic marker horizon location near the top of the (Archean) Stoughton-Roquemaure Group which occurs south of the PDFZ and occupies part of the north limb of the east striking, east plunging Blake River Synclinorium or b) within a lithologically and structurally complex bedrock assemblage which is spatially associated with the PDFZ and which is termed by Jensen and Langford the Porcupine-Destor Complex. A recent geophysical survey of Hislop Township identified 2 weakly anomalous bedrock conductors that coincide with the approximate location of the Creek Zone deposit.

Dec 07, 2005 (C Salo) - The Creek Zone deposit is spatially associated with what Chevron Resources Canada (The Chevron Resources Canada/Stroud Resources joint venture project operator) geologists refer to as the south southeast striking Stroud Fault. It is located about 400 m northwest of the Gunnex deposit (also spatially associated with the Stroud Fault and described elsewhere in this compendium), and is described (assessment and exploration files) to be geologically and mineralogically similar to the Gunnex deposit with the exception that visible (coarse grained native) gold has been reported to occur within the Creek Zone (Stroud Resources Ltd. news release dated June 4, 1989).
