Geology

Province: Superior

Subprovince: Abitibi

Terrane: Wawa-Abitibi

Belt: Abitibi

Geological Age: Archean

Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (D Guidon) - The property is underlain by mafic metavolcanic rocks of the Kinojevis assemblage and younger mafic to ultramafic intrusive rocks. These are part of the Western Abitibi subprovince, part of the Superior Province.

Lithology

Lithology Data
Rock Type Rank Composition Texture Relationship
Peridotite 1 Serpentinized Peridotite Host
Mafic lava flow-unsubdivided 2 Tholeiitic Pillowed And Massive Near

Lithology Comments

May 25, 2016 (D Guidon) - A mafic to ultramafic intrusion contains minor veinlets of asbestos. To the east, at the Hwy 11, the rocks appear to be mafic metavolcanics, with pillows noted by Hawley.

Mineralization Comments

May 25, 2016 (D Guidon) - Minor veinlets of asbestos occur in the mafic to ultramafic intrusion. About 300 m to the east, at Hwy 11, the rocks appear to be mafic volcanics. Sulphides (pyrite, pyrrhotite and chalcopyrite) are either disseminated or in quartz veins. Mineralization appears to be structurally controlled.

May 25, 2016 (A Wilson) - Best assays from the 2 drill holes completed by Croxall and Kangas returned values of 279 ppm Au and 249 ppm Au. A sample collected by P. Hawley in 1991 returned Nil Au,0.023% Cu,.005% Ni.

Mineral Record Details

Site Visit Information

Date: Dec 18, 2003

Geologist: D Guidon

Notes: Property was visited August 12, 1999 . Examined the large outcrop near the old drill holes but did not find the pits. Sample 99318 collected in the central portion of the outcrop and 99319 near the pits location at the southern end of the outcrop. The intrusion is not uniform with coarser grained sections and some areas are leucocratic. Near the southern end of the outcrop serpentinization was noted. Very little found for sulphides. Sample 99320 was collected from a pit on the east side of Hwy 11, east of the Ni. showings. Some samples with abundant sulphide - pyrite pyrrhotite and chalcopyrite. Sulphides associated with a 30 cm shear trending at 280-75.
