Exploration History

1975: W.G. Wahl Ltd. (for Denison Mines Ltd.?) completed magnetic surveys in the area. 1976: W.G. Wahl for Denison Mines completed magnetic and geochemical surveys in the area. 1977: W.G. Wahl for Denison Mines completed geological, geochemical, magnetic, and VL and HL electromagnetic surveys in the area. 1981- 1982: Dome Exploration (Canada) Ltd. completed magnetic surveys and reverse circulation drilled in the area. 1985- 1986: In 1985, Dome Exploration (Canada) diamond drilled 3 holes totalling 964 m in the area. Dome Exploration (Canada) drill hole no. 257-3 yielded a 0.43 m long core section which assayed 350 ppb of gold. Bay Resources and Services Inc. soil sampled the area and identified within esker sands and gravels in Warden Township the presence of significant numbers of detrital gold grains.

Geology

Province: Superior

Geological Age: Archean

Metamorphism Grade: Greenschist

Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (C Salo) - Geological mapping (Sutcliffe and Steele 1989; Johnstone 1987, 1986; Jensen and Langford 1985; McClenaghan et al. 1989, 1988, 1987; Steele 1988; Vagners 1984; assessment and exploration files, Resident Geologist's Office, Kirkland Lake) indicates that bedrock near the occurrence is mantled by thick and often complex glacial and aeolian deposits, including those of the Munro Esker. Bedrock consists mainly of weakly metamorphosed (greenschist or lower metamorphic grade) volcanic and interflow sedimentary rocks of the (Archean) Stoughton-Roquemaure Group which strike southeast and dip steeply. Limited diamond drilling in the area indicates that felsic dike rocks also occur. A recent geophysical survey of Warden Township (OGS 1984) failed to detect any anomalous bedrock conductors which coincide with the occurrence location.

Mineralization Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (C Salo) - Dome Exploration (Canada) drill hole no. 257-3 yielded a 0.43 m long section of quartz-feldspar porphyry dike material which hosted a quartz-carbonate vein. This core section was mineralized with 15% of medium grained pyrite and assayed 350 ppb of gold.
