Dec 07, 2005 (C Salo) - A 630 foot wide discordant (Johnstone 1986) ultramafic complex composed of peridotite and pyroxenite is hosted mainly by variably glacial drift covered (McClenaghan et al. 1988, 1987; Steele 1988) weakly metamorphosed (greenschist or lower metamorphic facies) volcanic rocks of the (Archean) Stoughton- Roquemaure Group (Johnstone 1987, 1986; Jensen and Baker 1986; Johnstone and Steele 1989). Along strike to the east, this body hosts serpentine filler mineralization which is currently (1989) being commercially exploited by Hedman Mines Ltd. (Vos 1971). Asbestos fibre up to 1/8 inch in length at this location has been reported (assessment files, Resident Geologist's Office, Kirkland Lake) to occur as cross veinlets in serpentinized peridotite.
