Geology

Province: Superior

Geological Age: Archean

Metamorphism Grade: Greenschist

Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (C Salo) - Geological mapping (Satterly 1953; Johnstone and Trowell 1985; Jensen and Baker 1986; Gupta and Johnstone 1987; Johnstone and Steele 1989; Vagners 1984; McClenaghan et al. 1988, 1987; Steele 1988) indicates that bedrock in the area is largely glacial drift covered and consists mainly of weakly metamorphosed (greenschist or lower metamorphic grade) mafic to ultramafic volcanic and/or intrusive bodies of the (Archean) Stoughton-Roquemaure Group.

Mineralization Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (C Salo) - Satterly (1953) reported that: ...chrysotile asbestos is present in a few holes in cross-fibre veinlets mostly less than 1/32 inch and rarely as much as 1/8 inch wide, and also in veinlets associated with magnetite... (p.25).
