Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (R Degagne) - A 6 inch wide quartz vein breccia developed in largely glacial drift covered weakly metamorphosed (greenschist or lower metamorphic facies) east southeast striking volcanic rocks of the (Archean) Stoughton-Roquemaure Group (Satterly 1952; Johnstone and Trowell 1985, 1984; Jensen and Baker 1986; Johnstone and Steele 1989; Johnstone 1987; Vagners 1984; McClenaghan et al. 1988, 1987; Steele 1988) marginal to a north striking diabase dike of the (Proterozoic) Matachewan swarm (Heaman 1989) strikes 030 and can be traced for over 300 feet. Satterly (1952) indicated that the vein is explored by 2 pits, but did not report any anomalous gold or sulphide mineralization.
