Exploration History

Pre- 1944: Stripping and trenching were completed. 1944: Frobisher Exploration Co. diamond drilled 4 holes totalling 2,361 feet. 1945- 1947: Frobisher Exploration completed additional diamond drilling until, in 1945, the property was acquired by Aunor Gold Mines Ltd. Caman Gold Mines Ltd. was incorporated during 1945 and subsequently acquired the property. By 1947, 27 holes totalling 15,004 feet had been diamond drilled in the area by Caman Gold Mines. 1965: Falconbridge Nickel Mines Ltd. optioned the property from Garrison Creek Consolidated Mines Ltd. and diamond drilled 10 holes totalling 5,010.5 feet. 1984: Falconbridge Ltd. completed geological and IP electric surveys.

Geology

Province: Superior

Geological Age: Archean

Metamorphism Grade: Greenschist

Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (C Salo) - Geological mapping (Prest 1953; Jensen 1989, 1985; Johnstone and Trowell 1985; Jensen and Baker 1986; Johnstone and Steele 1989; Troop 1989; Baker et al. 1980; Vagners 1984; McClenaghan 1988, 1987; Steele 1988) indicates that the area is underlain mainly by sparsely exposed weakly metamorphosed (greenschist or lower metamorphic facies except marginal to large felsic intrusive bodies where amphibolite contact metamorphic aureoles may be developed) volcanic rocks of the (Archean) Stoughton- Roquemaure Group which strike southeast, dip steeply, and face north. Intrusive rocks in the area include large and irregularly shaped felsic stocks and north striking diabase dikes of the (Proterozoic) Matachewan swarm (Heaman 1989). The southeast striking Porcupine-Destor Fault Zone is several hundred metres southwest of the occurrence and the Munro Fault Zone (also referred to as the Middle Branch of the Porcupine- Destor Fault Zone (Jensen and Langford 1985, Johnstone 1987)) is several hundred metres northeast of the occurrence.

Mineralization Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (C Salo) - Falconbridge Nickel Mines diamond drill hole no. G-8 is reported (assessment files, Resident Geologist's Office, Kirkland Lake) to have intersected altered (of unspecified type) mafic volcanic breccia hosting a 3/8 inch wide vein of dark green sphalerite. This vein assayed 13.5% of zinc. Drilling also intersected a mafic breccia hosting abundant quartz veins containing up to 12% of combined pyrite and pyrrhotite. Falconbridge Nickel Mines diamond drill hole no. G-6 yielded a 5 foot core length which averaged 0.02 ounce of gold per ton.
