Dec 07, 2005 (C Salo) - Quartz veins of unspecified orientation as large as 3 feet in width are developed in variably glacial drift covered weakly metamorphosed (greenschist or lower metamorphic grade) carbonatized sediment of the (Archean) Porcupine Group (Johnstone and Trowell 1985, 1984; Jensen and Baker 1986; Johnstone 1987; Johnstone and Steele 1989; Troop 1989; Vagners 1984; McClenaghan et al. 1988, 1987; Steele 1988) which strike southeast, dip steeply, and face north. The pits are spatially associated with a northeast striking cross fault. The veins are reported (Prest 1953) to be well mineralized with pyrite and galena; a grab sample obtained by Prest is reported by him to have averaged 0.28 ounce of gold per ton. A second vein on claim no. 9320 is also reported (Prest 1953) to be mineralized with pyrite, galena, and to contain anomalously elevated gold tenors.
