Geology Comments

Dec 15, 2015 (R Degagne) - Geological mapping indicates that bedrock exposure in northern Bowman Township is scarce, with more than 95% of the area mantled by thick and locally complex glaciolacustrine deposits. Regional scale correlation with geological mapping completed elsewhere indicates that the weakly metamorphosed (greenschist or lower metamorphic facies) volcanic bedrock in northern Bowman Township is east striking, steeply dipping, is likely south facing and belongs to the (Archean) Stoughton-Roquemaure Group. Bedrock in the trenched area is about 4 km south of the interpreted location of the Porcupine-Destor Fault Zone and occupies part of the north limb of the east striking and east plunging Blake River Synclinorium.

Lithology Comments

Dec 15, 2015 (R Degagne) - Intrusive rocks in the area include porphyritic felsic dikes and/or irregularly shaped masses and north striking diabase dikes of the (Proterozoic) Matachewan swarm (Heaman). A recent geophysical survey of Bowman Township failed to detect any significant bedrock conductors in the trenched area. Pits and trenches in the south half of lot 4, concession 6, Bowman Township are blasted into basalt and albite syenite porphyry near a north striking quartz diabase Matachewan dike. Waste pile samples adjacent to a flooded 5x3 m trench blasted into bedrock consist of variably carbonatized and epidote altered basalt and albite syenite porphyry and rare white quartz-epidote-calcite vein material which is developed in both porphyry and basalt.

Mineralization Comments

Dec 15, 2015 (A Wilson) - Samples collected from the quartz vein by W.B. Green in 1935 returned values ranging from $0.35 Au to $1.40 Au. Six feet of the vein reportedly assayed $1.40 Au. Assays obtained from Sylvanite sampling in 1936 returned values ranging from trace to 0.1 oz./t Au.

Dec 15, 2015 (R Degagne) - Pits and trenches in the south half of lot 4, concession 6, Bowman Township are blasted into basalt and albite syenite porphyry near a north striking quartz diabase Matachewan dike. Waste pile samples adjacent to a flooded 5x3 m trench blasted into bedrock consist of variably carbonatized and epidote altered basalt and albite syenite porphyry and rare white quartz-epidote-calcite vein material which is developed in both porphyry and basalt. Pyrite was only rarely observed by the present writer in the waste rock samples. The best assay obtained by the present writer (sample AB-85-89a) was 510 ppb of gold from a silicified and pyritic hornblende albite porphyritic rock. The geometry of the trenched vein or vein system could not be determined due to flooding and extensive overburden cover. Analyses*: Sample AB-85-89a: 510 Au ppb, Sample AB-85-90: 100 Au ppb, Sample AB-85-92: 110 Au ppb, Sample AB-85-93: nil Au ppb, Sample AB-85-96: nil Au ppb. * All assays performed by Swastika Laboratories Ltd., Swastika.

Alteration Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (R Degagne) - Pits and trenches in the south half of lot 4, concession VI, Bowman Township are blasted into basalt and albite syenite porphyry near a north striking quartz diabase Matachewan dike. Waste pile samples adjacent to a flooded 5x3 m trench blasted into bedrock consist of variably carbonatized and epidote altered basalt and albite syenite porphyry and rare white quartz-epidote-calcite vein material which is developed in both porphyry and basalt. Samples: AB-85-90: Dump grab as for sample AB-85-89. Olive green, weakly magnetic fine grained to aphanitic basalt intruded by white feldspar phyric dike material. The hand sample consists of decimetre scale lava tubes which display chilled margins. A dirty white quartz-epidote-chlorite veinlet is localized along the chilled lava tube margin. Plagioclase microphenocrysts are sericitized. The sample is pervasively Fe-dolomitized and contains traces of pyrite within the quartz-epidote-chlorite veinlet. AB-85-96: Dump grab as for sample AB-85-90. Pervasively epidote altered greyish pink feldspar porphyry. AB-85-97: Dump grab as for sample AB-85-90. Epidote altered pink feldspar porphyry.
