Geology

Province: Superior

Subprovince: Abitibi

Terrane: Wawa-Abitibi

Belt: Abitibi

Tectonic Assemblage: Stoughton-Roquemaure

Geological Age: Archean

Metamorphism Grade: Greenschist

Geology Comments

Apr 21, 2016 (C Salo) - Geological mapping indicates that bedrock in the area consists mainly of sparsely exposed weakly metamorphosed (greenschist or lower metamorphic facies) volcanic rocks of the (Archean) Stoughton- Roquemaure Group which strike east northeast, dip steeply, and face north. The occurrence is several hundred metres north of the interpreted trace of the Pipestone Fault Zone and several hundred metres east of a regional scale, north northwest striking fault (the Black River Fault), across which a limited amount of apparent dextral horizontal displacement has occurred.

Mineralization Comments

Apr 21, 2016 (A Wilson) - Assays from DDH-1 returned trace Au, 0.3% Cu, 0.5% Zn and 1.0% Ti; a sample at 385 ft assayed 0.01 oz/t Au.. Assays from DDH-2 returned values ranging from 0.01 oz/t Au over 8 inches to 0.26% over 1 ft. of core. No economic assays were returned from the other drill holes.

Dec 07, 2005 (C Salo) - Andesite (probably Mg-tholeiitic basalt) and narrow intercalated bands of trachyte are reported (assessment files, Resident Geologist's Office, Kirkland Lake) to host pyritic quartz stringers of unspecified geometry. Assays from Monpre Mining Co. diamond drill core range from trace to 0.01 ounce of gold per ton.
