Jan 19, 2016 (A Wilson) - The Quaternary stratigraphy at hole 84-41 is simple, 50.9 m of varved clay, silt, and fine sand overlying 2.1 m of glaciolacustrine sand on bedrock. In general, varve thickness increases with depth, from less than 1 cm at surface to greater than 1 m below 40.5 m. This decrease in varve thickness with height is a reflection of the retreating ice mass that was the sediment source for glaciolacustrine deposits. All Quaternary sediments encountered at this hole were deposited in proglacial lakes Barlow and Ojibway. The sand samples taken from this hole have similar geochemical and mineralogical data.
Jan 19, 2016 (A Wilson) - Sample 41-04H returned elevated copper values (2000 ppm), lead values (2300 ppm), zinc values (650 ppm) and nickel values (770 ppm). Heavy mineral sample 41-02 returned 4 gold grains (3 abraded and 1 irregular).
