Geology Comments

Nov 30, 2015 (C Salo) - Geological mapping, geophysical surveys of the Stock Township area and information derived from exploration overburden and diamond drilling (assessment and exploration files, Resident Geologist's Office, Timmins) indicate that bedrock in the area consists mainly of weakly metamorphosed (greenschist or lower metamorphic facies) volcanic rocks of the (Archean) Stoughton-Roquemaure Group (to the south) and (weakly metamorphosed) interbedded clastic sedimentary and mafic volcanic rocks of the(Archean) Porcupine Group (to the north) which strike east northeast, dip steeply, and face south. The Porcupine-Destor Fault Zone (PDFZ), a regional scale domain of structural (and often lithologic) discontinuity is closely associated with the Stoughton-Roquemaure/Porcupine Group contact. What have been interpreted to be subsidiary 'splay' shears of the Porcupine-Destor Fault Zone (such as the 'Aquarius Break') have been interpreted to occur within Stoughton-Roquemaure Group rocks up to several hundred metres south of the Stoughton-Roquemaure/Porcupine Group contact. Intrusive rocks in the area include narrow (tens of metres in width) generally north striking diabase dikes of the (Proterozoic)Matachewan swarm (Heaman 1989). Feldspar and quartz-feldspar porphyritic felsic rocks which have been variably interpreted to be of intrusive and/or extrusive and/or metasomatic origin are common within and closely associated with the PDFZ (as at the Pominex Ltd./Canarchon Holdings Ltd./Noranda Exploration Co. Ltd. occurrence in Macklem Township; the Hollinger Argus occurrence in Stock Township; and the St. Andrew Goldfields Ltd. Stock Township Mine and Shoot and Porphyry Zone occur, in Taylor Township).

Lithology Comments

Nov 30, 2015 (A Wilson) - Anomalously elevated gold tenors at the occurrence are known only from diamond drilling. Anomalous gold tenors are hosted by variably altered clastic metasediments, mafic to ultramafic volcanics and diorites which are spatially related to the Porcupine Destor fault.

Mineralization Comments

Nov 30, 2015 (A Wilson) - The best assay returned from the Hollinger Argus drill hole was 0.015 oz./t Au over 2 ft from Temiskaming sediments. The best assay reported from the diamond drilling completed by Noranda returned an assay of 1.2 oz./t Au over 0.25 m of diorite. Two assays from STK87-2 returned values of 0.012 and 0.028 oz./t Au over 0.5 m respectively in tectonic breccia. A narrow quartz vein, intersected in DDH STK87-3 returned an assay of 1.81 oz./t Au over 0.5 m.

Dec 07, 2005 (C Salo) - Anomalously elevated gold tenors at the Hollinger Argus occurrence are known only from diamond drilling; due to widespread glacial deposits in the area no bedrock is exposed near the southwest corner of Stock Township. Anomalous gold tenors are hosted by variably talc, chlorite, carbonate, sericite and silica altered clastic sedimentary rock, mafic to ultramafic volcanic rock, and dioritic rock which is spatially associated with the PDFZ (on the property, the PDFZ is inferred (assessment files) to be 200 to 300 m wide and to dip south 65- 75 degrees). The altered rocks are reported (assessment files) to host: a) native gold bearing quartz veins; b) anomalous (greater than 0.01 ounce of gold per ton) gold concentrations associated with pyrite-pyrrhotite stringers; c) anomalous gold concentrations associated with pyritic tectonic breccias; and d) anomalously elevated gold tenors associated with pyrite and chalcopyrite bearing sections of altered and brecciated ultramafic volcanic rocks. Additional sulfide minerals noted in the Hollinger Argus and Noranda Exploration Co. drill logs include sphalerite, galena, and, exclusively within 'quartz feldspar porphyry', arsenopyrite.
