Lithology Comments

Jun 24, 2013 (G Seim) - The Gold Island Prospect is located just to the north of the Gold Island - Aquarius Fault. The gold mineralization is free gold associated with pyrite contained within quartz stingers and veins that cut an aplite - syenitic feldspar porphyry - dike(s) contained within highly sheared and iron carbonate altered mafic to ultramafic metavolcanic rock. The quartz stringers and veins fill tension fractures that can extend from the altered rock through the aplite and back into the altered rock. The aplite also contains disseminated pyrite and tourmaline occurs with the quartz.

Mineralization Comments

Jun 24, 2013 (G Seim) - A two ton bulk sample was extracted from gold island in 1930. Testing completed by the Mines Branch in Ottawa revealed 1) the assay of 2 representative lots from different dikes give values of $3.40 and $2.80, respectively, in gold per ton over a width of 40 ft. 2) The greater part of the gold in the ore is present as native gold. 3) An amalgamation process recovered 80% of the gold, but in practice not more than 58%. 4) Amalgamation combined with floatation recovers 96.7% of the gold. 5) Cyanidation recovers 97% of the gold with a cyanide consumption of 0.60 pounds of KCN per ton of ore milled. 6) fine grinding is necessary in any of these processes.

Jun 24, 2013 (A Wilson) - The aplite contains abundant pyrite and nests of tourmaline occur in the quartz in some places. Assays from the 1947-46 drilling program completed by Goldhawk Porcupine returned values ranging from 0.07 oz/ Au over 14 ft in S-19 to 1.31 oz/t Au over 4.5 ft in S-20. A diamond drill hole completed on the zone in 1995 by Royal Oak Mines Ltd returned 0.073 oz/t Au over 152.5 ft
