Access Description: Drive north for 2 km from South Porcupine along the Hoyle Pond access road. Turn east on a bush road and travel 850 m to the site. The site lies 75 m north of the road.
1947-51: Bonetal Gold Mines Ltd. - surface diamond drilling, underground development accessed from 970-ft level of Porcupine Reef Mines Ltd. 1951: Bonwhit Mines Limited - subsidiary of Broulan Reef Mines Limited; owns the part of Bonetal Mines that was developed from the Reef shaft, commenced production in October 1951. 1951-54: Bonwhit Mines Ltd.- development and production, milling at the Broulan Reef Mines Ltd. mill. 1955: operated as part of Broulan Reef Mines Ltd. with development of additional underground workings. 1983: Newmont Mines Ltd. - diamond drilling, assays, lithogeochem analysis.2002: Porcupine Joint Venture - Drilling on patent to south of Bonwhit Mine

Jan 09, 2015 (D Draper) - Results of Newmont drilling: Hole NM-83-1, bearing due south, collared approx. 315m NW of Bonwhit shaft location, returned 3086 ppb Au over 1ft from quartz veining in silicified andesite carrying py, po. (DCL TI1362) Hole NM-83-2, drilled vertical, 100m W of Bonwhit, returned 1159 ppb Au over 5ft of the uppermost unit encountered by the hole, an amygdaloidal basalt with qtz-veining and carrying py, po, asp. (DCL TI1363) Hole NM-83-3, collared 270m N of Bonwhit and drilled south intersected a graphitic argillite cut by qtz-calcite and calcite veining with py, po. This unit assayed 2577 ppb Au over 4ft. (DCL TI1364) Results of Porcupine Joint Venture drilling: Four of 11 holes drilled south of Bonwhit in 2002 returned gold values. The predominant lithologies intersected by these holes were mafic volcanics and metasediments cut by quartz veining. Hole 18682, collared 140m SSW of shaft, assayed greater than 0.015 oz/t Au in 10 samples, the highest being 0.271 oz/t Au over 3.5ft. Hole 18686, collared 230m SW of shaft and 90m grid west of 18682, assayed 0.047 oz/t Au over 1ft. Hole 18689, collared 350m SW of shaft, assayed 0.032 oz/t Au over 1.5ft from qtz vein in unit of conglomerate. Hole 18691, collared 460m SW of shaft, assayed 0.019 oz/t Au over 5ft in greywacke. .
