Exploration History

Exploration work resulted in diamond drilling in 1996 to follow up on a previous drill hole H1232 which intersected a weighted average grade of 0.10 oz/ton Au / 114 feet at a vertical depth of 310 feet. Drill holes PW-13 and -16 were drilled 300 feet to the east-northeast and intersected a weighted average grade of 0.16 oz/ton Au / 25.3 feet (PW-13), and 0.31 oz/ton Au / 19.0 feet (PW-16). The press release states ..This is an exciting development since the gold mineralization is more sulphide-rich than normal and occurs well south of The New Mines Trends. The best gold values are associated with zones of finely disseminated pyrrhotite (5%) with traces of arsenopyrite visible within broad zones of strongly foliated, altered, and bleached mafic volcanics. Due to excessive flattening, hole PW-16 intersected the sulphide zone only 30 feet below hole PW-13.. Other values include PW-12 (0.22 oz/ton Au / 2.3 feet), PW-14 (0.03 oz/ton Au / 1.0 foot), and PW-15 (0.16 oz/ton Au / 1.6 feet).
