Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (G Seim) - This occurrence occurs near the contact of Kidd-Munro or Tisdale metavolcanic rocks in the east and Hoyle metasedimentary rocks to the west. A north-trending conducter caused by carbonaceous, sulphidic, argillaceous mudstones found at the contact defines the structural trendin in the area. The metavolcanic rocks are mafic, chloritic, and highly carbonatized. Defromation is moderate. The contact with the carbonaceous metasediments is sheared. Frequent narrow quartz veins and associated disseminated and blebby pyrite occur in the mafic volcanic rocks near the base of the unit. Pyrite content increases towards the contact. The carbonaceous argillic mudstone is highly deformed and carrys about 5% pyrite in disseminated, framboidal, fractrue-fill and massive layers up to 10 cm in thickness. Turbidites comprised of greywacke and argillite occur east of the carbonaceous unit and graded bedding suggests an easterly facing direction to the succession.
