Exploration History

Exploration activity by Homestake in 1991 focussed on a systematic follow-up of the gold intersection reported in DDH TU-1-3-70 by Hollinger Mines, and subsequent gold values by Esso Minerals (see MDI 42A14SE00029). Homestake DDH T91-03 was drilled approximately 200 metres to the southeast of the discovery hole and intersected weakly anomalous gold values which returned a weighted average grade of 203 ppb Au / 13.2 metres (77.5-90.7 m). These values were hosted by what the Summary Log describes as Graphitic Argillite/Breccia (Fault), Coarse Volcanoclastic/Fragmental, and Mineralized, Qtz-carb Veined Volcanoclastic/Fragmental. Additional notations of alteration and quartz veining were present further down-hole, but contained no siginificant gold values. Traces of arsenopyrite were noted in the mineralized sections, along with pyrite (to 5% diss/stringer), po-cpy-sph-fuc (traces).
