Location Method: Based on Assessment
Access Description: Access to northeastern and central Tully Twp is via the Ice Chest Lake road (gravel) to a point approximately 1 Km north of Sawmill Lake. From there the OBM map indicates a road leading west to the west side of the Buskegau River. Access to the remainder of the area is via bush trails.
Exploration activity by Homestake in 1991 focussed on a systematic follow-up of the gold intersection reported in DDH TU-1-3-70 by Hollinger Mines, and subsequent gold values by Esso Minerals (see MDI 42A14SE00029). Homestake DDH T91-05 was drilled approximately 400 metres to the southeast of the discovery hole and intersected weakly anomalous gold values which returned weighted average grades of 783 ppb Au / 13.7 metres (88.4-102.1 m, includes 3.03 g/t Au / 1.2 m) and 802 ppb Au / 3.9 metres (108.5-112.4 m). These values were hosted by similar lithologies, quartz veining, and alteration as in previous holes T91-2, -3, and -4. Pyrite content varies up to 25%, arsenopyrite is estimated at 2% in one locale, and traces of cpy-sph were also noted.
