Point Location Description: Recent(1986) trench excavated by Utah Mines.

Location Method: Field Visit with GPS

Access Description: The occurrence is 69km west southwest of Timmins and access is possible via Highway 101 to the Kukatush Road. Eight kilometres south down the Kukatush Road is an old logging road leading east to the showing. The last kilometre of this road has been washed out.

Exploration History

1967 The occurrence was found by Radio Hill Mines during an exploration program lasting two years which included an airborne electromagnetic survey, mapping, trenching and diamond drilling. This work was originally targeted on the Bromley occurrence to the south. Samples from this work returned values up to 15 oz/ton gold and 23 oz/ton silver but typically were much lower. 1986 Utah Mines optioned the property and over the next two years carried out an exploration program which included geological mapping, humus, snow, and lithogeochemical sampling together with IP, Max-Min, Pulse EM, VLF, magnetic geophysical surveys followed by diamond drilling. 1994: Noranda Exploration Company, Limited – Assays, GC, GL, Samp. 2005: Golden Chalice Resources Inc. – AEM, AMag. 2008: Golden Chalice Resources Inc. – AEM, AMag.

Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (S Fumerton) - Alteration and mineralization is confined in a shear zone and this shear may be part of the regional MacKeith or Keith - Penhorwood shear zone which is in the immediate vicinity.

Lithology Comments

Feb 23, 2016 (S Fumerton) - The RF zone trends east west and consists of intense quartz carbonate alteration in a 10m wide zone bounded by thin graphitic shears. It has been inferred that the zone is located near a contact between komatiitic and Fe tholeiitic flows. South of the showing is a saussuritized, medium grained tonalite sheet subparallel to the zone. Northwest of the zone are some Fe tholeiitic basalts. This sequence is apparently folded on a large scale and transected by a major east west shear.

Mineralization Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (S Fumerton) - Quartz veining in a stockwork forms between 30 and 50% of the zone. These veins carry small pods of massive galena, chalcopyrite, and sphalerite which make up to 3% of the rock. Other sulphides occur disseminated throughout the veins, pyrite forms up to 8%, whereas arsenopyrite is more finely disseminated and more localized. The better mineralization is locally found in and adjacent to the graphitic shear zones bounding the zone or in breccia zones within the zone.

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - Grab samples collected by the OGS in 1985 returned values of 0.08 g/t Au, 35 g/t Ag. Chip samples collected by the OGS in 1992 returned values of 0.03 g/t Au.

Site Visit Information

Date: Jun 26, 1992

Geologist: S Fumerton

Notes: Recent logging activity has greatly disturbed the ground and none of the original pits and trenches were found. However, to the northeast near Primer Lake in an old stand of timber some new north south trenches have been excavated. These trenches are now partially bottom filled and were dug by Utah Mines.
