Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (S Fumerton) - The prospect is located in compositionally layered ultramafic rocks which may be part of an intrusive plug or a thickened sequence of komatiitic flows in the nose of a fold. Else where these flows or lenses are conformable with Mg tholeiitic and calc-alkaline flows. Originally these ultramafics were divided into early and late ultramafic intrusives by Milne 1972 but the occurrence of compositionally controlled spinifex texture was noted in settings now regarded as characteristic of layered komatiitic flows.
