Access Description: Easy access is possible via a series of secondary forestry roads which branch off the Ivanhoe Forest Access road 5km to the south of the prospect. The Ivanhoe access road connects to Highway 101 via the Ivanhoe Lake access road.

Exploration History

1964-65: Keevil Mining covered the area with an airborne magnetic and EM survey. This was followed up on the ground with a magnetic and VLEM survey together with mapping program. A number of EM targets were drill tested and these holes intersected graphitic argillite with minor base metal sulphides. 1971: Noranda performed a magnetic and VLEM geophysical survey in the area. 1991: Falconbridge carried out a magnetic and HLEM survey over the prospect.

Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (S Fumerton) - Sulphides occur in a thick argillaceous horizon intercalated in a mafic metavolcanic sequence with some silicified zones.

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The mafic metavolcanic rocks are interbedded with graphitic mudstone which contains disseminated pyrrhotite, pyrite, sphalerite and chalcopyrite.

Dec 07, 2005 (S Fumerton) - Thin seams of pyrite and pyrrhotite together with minor chalcopyrite and pyrrhotite occur with disseminated sulphides and a 30cm massive sulphide horizon.

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - Assays from the mineralized zone returned values up to 0.35% Zn and 0.07% Cu over 3.5 m.

Date: Aug 14, 1992

Geologist: S Fumerton

Notes: An attempt was made to locate holes drilled by Keevil Mining (65-19 | 65-20) with no success. The area has been logged over and replanted since the holes were cored even so the inferred position of one hole plots in a sphagnum swamp and some trace was expected.
