Point Location Description: Man made clearing on an old bush trail in the expected position of hole 65-14.

Location Method: Field Visit with GPS

Access Description: Recently access is relatively easy via a series of secondary forestry roads which branch off the Ivanhoe Forest Access Road some 10km to the south of the prospect.

Exploration History

1964-65: Keevil Mining Group Ltd did the earliest reported work in the area which consisted of an airborne EM and magnetic survey. Ground follow-up consisted of magnetic and VLEM surveys together with geological mapping and two targets were drill tested. It was found that disseminated sulphides occur in quartz arenite. 1982: Hudbay Mining flew another magnetic and EM survey which was followed by a reconnaissance ground EM survey and one hole was drilled.

Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (S Fumerton) - The rocks intersected in the Keevil Mining drill holes are reported to be dominantly metasediments with wackes, quartzites (quartz arenites), argillites and some intercalated mafic metavolcanics. Quartz pebble conglomerates have also been reported. The nearby hole drilled by Hudbay intersected a pyroclastic dacite andesite sequence with local graphitic sediments.

Mineralization Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (S Fumerton) - Sulphides occur in grains, patches, and seams of pyrrhotite and pyrite forming up to 30% of the rock though locally the pyrite content is minor. Chalcopyrite is typically present but in trace amounts. These sulphides are significantly more abundant in the quartz rich sediments.

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - Hudbay Mining drill hole F-82-2 returned 0.46% Zn over 0.2m.

Site Visit Information

Date: Aug 14, 1992

Geologist: S Fumerton

Notes: An attempt was made to locate holes drilled by Keevil Mining and Hudbay Mining. At least three ages of trails were found plus several ages of old blazes but no blazes corresponded to the orientation of Keevil's grids. The most promising site was a man made clearing on an old trail but no evidence of a drill set up was found.
