Exploration History

1964: Keevil Mining Group Ltd did the earliest reported work in the area and this consisted of an airborne EM survey with follow-up geological mapping and ground geophysical work. In 1965 diamond drilling intersected a graphitic slate with sphalerite and chalcopyrite Hole 64-13. 1980: Hudbay Mining reflew the felsic metavolcanics in the area with an Input and magnetic survey and carried out ground geophysical follow up on selected anomalies. Some of these anomalies were drill tested in 1982. 1983: Chevron Minerals carried out a Pulse EM and magnetic survey on the property after assuming all of Hudbay Mining's properties and drilled two short holes. 1992: Noranda Exploration restaked the ground, cut a new grid and have recompiled the data, ground geophysics.

Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (S Fumerton) - Very fine grained argillaceous (slate) beds are intercalated in a volcanic sequence. These beds are up to 10m thick. Adjacent to the reported mineralization is a sulphide facies banded iron formation. Pyritic nodules occur in the mineralized argillite.

Mineralization Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (S Fumerton) - Stringers of quartz and carbonate occur in the argillite and commonly contain up to 5% pyrite and pyrrhotite with some chalcopyrite and sphalerite. The main intersection (0.6m) contains up to 3% sphalerite.

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The best assays returned from the drill hole were up to 0.35% Zn and 0.07% Cu.
