Point Location Description: The point located with the GPS is an old drill set up

Location Method: Field Visit with GPS

Access Description: The occurrence is situated about 2 km west-southwest of Foleyet along Highway 101. Hole F82-6 is located in the bush some 600m north of Highway 101 and can be easily accessed by traversing. All trails are completely overgrown. The set up presently consists of two large wooden sills over a sump which has BW casing plugged with a picket.

Exploration History

1964: Keevil Mining Group Ltd did the earliest reported work in the area and this consisted of an airborne EM survey with follow-up geological mapping and ground geophysics. In 1965 diamond drilling intersected a graphitic slate with sphalerite and chalcopyrite in Hole 65-1. 1980: Hudbay Mining reflew the felsic metavolcanic belt with an Input and magnetic survey and carried out ground geophysical follow-up on selected anomalies. Some of these anomalies were drill tested in 1982 resulting in the intersection described here (1 ddh, 84.1 m). 1983: Chevron Minerals continued the Hudbay program with a pulse EM and magnetic survey followed by two short holes. 1991: Noranda Exploration Co. Ltd. - ground geophysics.

Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (S Fumerton) - Mineralization is contained within a rhyolite to dacite lapilli tuff to breccia tuff sequence with local ash beds and graphitic wackes. This sequence is located near the northwest end of a large felsic volcanic belt. See other similar occurrences:- 42B/01W/001 and 42B/01W/004.

Notes: The drill collar was located in a clearing partially overgrown with alders and the set up consists of two large wooden sills over a sump which contains a piece of 'BW' casing plugged with a picket. The collar for Hudbay hole F82-6 is next to picket L4S 13+00W. The new Noranda grid follows the same lines as the Chevron grid but with a new origin.
