Exploration History

1937: The Consolidated Mining and Smelting Company of Canada inspected claims staked by J. Beaudry of Foleyet for their molybdenum potential. The author of the company visit report remarked that 'molybdenite is found at the showing; however the deposits lack economic features.'. It was concluded that the property was 'of no further interest on present showings and prospects'. 1972: Noranda Exploration conducted a magnetic and electromagnetic survey on a 6 claim block to the northwest of the Beaudry showing. This work was not directed towards molybdenum. 1981: Noranda Exploration conducted a magnetic and electromagnetic survey on a 9 claim block to the immediate west and north of the Beaudry showing.

Site Visit Information

Date: Aug 20, 1993

Geologist: K Houle

Notes: Pegmatite dykes intersecting coarse grained granite. Dykes are northwest trending and dip to the northeast 75-85 deg. Dykes were found to range in size from 0.10 - 1.4m but are predominantly in the 10-20 cm range. Pegmatite dykes appear late as they cross cut all other structure including quartz veins and gashes as well as small felsic dykes. One of the larger dykes appears to have areas of quartz segregations down the central portion of the dyke. All of the dykes examined appear to have sparse flaky molybdenite mineralization

Date: Jun 10, 2014

Geologist: P Bousquet

Notes: The outcrop shows a coarse grained diorite. It is “salt and pepper” textured, showing feldspar eyes with biotite flowing around in an ill-developed foliation. The outcrop shows also a different phase of diorite, fine to medium grained. Both are intersected by pink coarse-grained aplite dykelets, hosting some pyrite.
