Point Location Description: Centre of a small stripped outcrop

Location Method: Field Visit with GPS

Access Description: Easy access is possible by taking the Horwood Lake access road to the Joburke Mine road. From the mine road, take the access road to the San Gold-Hoodoo deposit. Past it, there is a narrow ATV trail which will lead to the stripping out in the bush (Keep right!). The trail is hard to follow since saplings are growing on it.

Geology Comments

Apr 02, 2015 (A Wilson) - Very fine-grained, grey quartz occurs in irregular boudins which are hosted in sheared and folded mafic metavolcanic rocks. The metavolcanics consist of alternating mafic and leucocratic bands typically several centimeters thick and which originally were probably tuffs. These folded and banded tuffs are separated from more uniform green, altered and foliated mafic metavolcanics by a greyish carbonate chlorite schist.

Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - At the south end of the stripping the dominant structure is a strong foliation/schistosity trending 070. North of the carbonate schist the foliation and lithological banding has been folded in a number of directions.

Mineralization Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The fine-grained quartz boudins have very few sulphides sparsely disseminated within the vein. In contrast, the adjacent banded and folded tuffs contain a number of thin seams of massive pyrite parallel to the foliation. These seams tend to be more abundant where the host metavolcanics are slightly graphitic and on the weathered surfaces there are numerous rusty patches coincident with the pyrite seams. Assays from grab samples off of the muck pile have returned values of 0.041 g/t Au and 0.111 g/t Au.

Site Visit Information

Date: Aug 07, 2014

Geologist: P Bousquet

Notes: The area shows highly deformed, iron stained, mafic volcanic rocks. The rocks are outcropping over 25-75 m2. The schistosity appears to be 244°N sub vertical, but does appear twisted at times. The mineralization is associated with pyritic seams concordant with the schistosity. These seams are 0.1 to 0.5 cm in thickness.
