Feb 09, 2016 (A Wilson) - The quartz vein is about 25 to 40 m in width, has a length of 80 - 105 m and trends from 65 to 68 degrees. The vein is vertical to steeply east dipping and has chlorite schist in contact on the south side and medium-grained pink granodiorite in contact on the north side. Site 2a occurs to the west of site 2 and is considered to be the western extension of this vein. This vein has been traced fro in excess of 200 m and varies from 12 to 15 m in width.

Feb 09, 2016 (A Wilson) - Outcrops along the top of the SE wall consist of extremely schistose (mylonitized) chlorite schist. The NW wall exposes pink granite and quartz. Numerous xenoliths of bleached granite occur within the quartz vein and northward, the vein grades into quartz-matrix breccia in granite. The quartz is medium to coarsely crystalline, white to slightly smoky grey, translucent and locally contains small fragments of granitic material. The granite is medium grained, massive and has a high quartz content with muscovite and pyrite as the dominant mafic minerals. Shear plans within the granite are altered and lined with sericite and hematite.

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The main quartz vein appears to represent one large pulse, but there are two distinct grain sizes visible. The coarse grains are several cm in size. In the pit walls and surrounding the pit, xenoliths of granitic material and chloritic metavolcanics are common. Most of the material in the vein grades better than 98% Si but some material only grades better than 80% Si because of the occurrence of mafic xenoliths.

Notes: The area shows a deep trench 20 m wide, by 300 m long by 15 m deep. The cliff walls show these quartz veins of 1 cm to 2 m. The granodiorite shows chlorite and iron staining, and small pyrite cubes were observed. Some copper bloom was also observed.
