Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The property is underlain by intermediate to felsic pyroclastic rocks, mafic metavolcanic flows, granitic stocks and several diabase dikes. Three zones of disseminated to massive pyrite and pyrrhotite discovered by Wesson Mines. Mineralization at Spring Lake lies within a narrow unit of intermediate tuffaceous rocks lying between mafic metavolcanics to the north and a quartz monzonite stock on the south. A northwest trending diabase dike cuts across all lithologies just west of the occurrence.

Lithology Comments

Sep 09, 2013 (A Wilson) - The occurrence is hosted by a narrow unit of intermediate tuffaceous rocks. The quartz veins hosting the mineralization are in garnetiferous metadacitic breccia which has been intruded by granitic sills. A local zone of felsic breccia flanks the north side of the granite body. Chloritic iron formation occurs within this unit. Geochemistry suggests that the volcanics mapped in this area are of calc-alkaline affinity. An elliptical granite body intrudes the volcanic assemblage at a mafic-intermediate metavolcanic contact. A local zone of felsic breccia flanks the north siide of the granite.

Mineralization Comments

Sep 09, 2013 (A Wilson) - Stringer to disseminated pyrite and pyrrhotite is associated with iron formation. The mineralization is associated with quartz veining. Soil samples collected by Noranda returned only background values for gold and silver. Copper and zinc values also were background values only.
