Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The Colborne-Stephenson Lakes Deformation Zone (CSDZ) is located i southern Rennie township where it is defined by a 300 m wide zone of ductile shearing and modertaely to strongly deformed rocks. The CSDZ can be traed for at least 4 km, is open to the east, and has not been traced westward of the Rennie Lake Stock whcih may truncate or deflect the zone. The CSDZ is localized in felsic to intermdiate pyroclastic rocks with minor mafic metavolcanic intercalations. Within the CSDZ there are several ductlie shear zones where the rocks are deformed to sericite-chlorite-quartz-carbonate schists. These zones trend from 85 to 110 degrees and range in width from less than 1 m to 10 m.

Lithology Comments

Sep 09, 2013 (A Wilson) - The property is underlain by fine - to medium grained rhyolite and amphibolite. The rhyolite is moderately to strongly foliated and is composed of 10 - 15% quartz eyes. The mafic metavolcanic rocks also display strong shearing. The contact between the two units is locally sericitized and is host to bedded pyrite.

Mineralization Comments

Sep 09, 2013 (A Wilson) - Mineralization occurs as fine-grained disseminated pyrite in both the felsic and mafic metavolcanic rocks. It is more abundant in the mafic unit and is associated with sericitic alteration in the north part of the grid. The contact between the amphibolite and the rhyolite is locally sericitized and host to bedded pyrite. Assays from drill core collected by Noranda Exploration returned assays ranging from 0.04 to 0.07 oz/t Ag over 5 feet in a graphitic schist. Grab samples collected by Falconbridge returned assays of 108 ppm and 735 ppm Zn. Diamond drilling completed by Falconbridge returned assays of 1.32 g/t Au over 0.73 m and 1.07 g/t Au over 1 m. Elevated zinc values ranging from 1240 ppm to 2270 ppm over unknown widths.
